  1. Thanks Rajeev Ji.Here is some info about Torrent Power.....

    Torrent Power-Lighting Up Gujarat
    BSE 532779; CMP Rs 120

Torrent Power is likely to shortly commission its 1147 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant based at Surat. This will triple the Power generating capacity with Torrent, from the present roughly 600 MW to nearly 2000 MW. Consequently, FY10 would see tripling of Revenues and Profits from the present Rs 3700 crore to over Rs 10,000 crore and after tax profits from Rs 200 crore to Rs 600 crore.

This will make Torrent one of the biggest power gen companies in the private sector in India, bigger than CESC and Reliance Infra and GIPCL and Neyveli Lignite. Being built by Siemens under a Turnkey contract, and gas supplies ensured through agreement most of the on-shore gas producers of Gujarat and distribution in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Bhiwandi and most industrial users of Gujarat, the raw material supply and distribution end are secured.

    Sugen 1147.5 MW CCPP

SUGEN 1147.5 MW CCPP, being set up at an investment of Rs. 3096 crores, is for meeting the power deficit in the western region in general and for meeting the power requirement of its Ahmedabad ( including Gandhinagar) and Surat distribution areas (which are part of the western regional grid and the Gujarat state grid.

The project is strategically located. It is close to River Tapi, National Highway No.8, gas supply infrastructure comprising LNG terminals and main gas trunk lines.

Environmental and social impact of this project is minimal due to (a) use of eco-friendly Natural Gas, (b) use of uncultivated and barren land and (c) no loss of livelihood.

The plant would comprise of three power blocks comprising advanced class gas turbines, steam turbine, HRSG and a common generator in a single shaft configuration with a high operating efficiency.

Security of fuel supply will ensure reliability of power and nearness to point of gas terminals will not only reduce other risks but also be of economic advantage.

The project is scheduled to be commissioned in the financial year 2008-2009.

Torrent Power's Sugen project is fully funded and all Equity dilutions have taken place. The commissioning of the project will thus be earnings accretive.
