India needs at least 400 airports and 3,000 aircraft in the next 10 years to keep pace with the growing demand, Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
He said as the aviation industry has been growing at 18 per cent CAGR, the country needs up to 3,000 aircraft in the next ten years.
He also underscored the need for making air travel safer and more secure.
"Our job is not over by creating infrastructure for aviation industry to grow. We need safe and secure aviation. Indian aviation will not grow at the cost of safety and security," the minister said during the inauguration of India Aviation-2010, a five-day exhibition and conference of international aviation began on Wednesday.
He said the bidding process for New Mumbai airport is expected to be completed in a year.

ReplyDeleteHi Rajeev,
ReplyDeleteAirport is big games for ministers @ real estate agents ! Like they are playing in jewar near greater noida. only one airport take so much time to build as real estate agents & minister plays land games near that area they take as much time as possible. As jewar airport is cleared long time ago but still nothing heppens to that.As govt is planning to build infrastructure on Prive public partnership they opt for GMR. Now GMR who agreed to build that airport earlier on per plane landing basis hesitate to build that as they think it is difficult to recover the cost. Now UP govt planning to build airport in meerut which is also a land game. They take as much time to take land rates higher. so you think how much time it will take to build 400 airport
